Its hard to beat Fort Desoto East Beach when it comes to kiteboarding. Large grassy launch area and plenty of flat water. There are minimum hazards making this place the perfect spot for learning or progressing.
This was from a day a few weeks back when we had warm winds out of the SE blowing 15-20 mph.
Keep an eye out in the mornings for an easterly wind or a northwesterly wind in the afternoons. Key signs for good winds in the mornings or afternoons are cool temperatures at night, warm temperatures during the day, dry air and sunny skies. Fort Desoto East Beach is a great spot for those morning easterly winds. When the winds clock around to the northwest in the afternoon, Fort Desoto North Beach is the place to go. The thing about North Beach now is that it is tide dependent. If the tide is low, North Beach may not have enough water to even kite it.
