We are pleased to announce that Kiteboarding St Petersburg is an IKO (International Kiteboarding Organization) Affiliated Center. What this means is that we meet the highest standards in the industry for safe and quality kiteboarding lessons. There are only a couple of centers in Florida and we are proud to be one of them.

Qualified

Anyone who instructs for Kiteboarding St Petersburg will be IKO certified. This means they go through the Assistant Instructor Course and the Instructor Course. To become an assistant instructor a person needs the following:

MINIMUM AGE 16 years

MINIMUM LEVEL Kiteboarder Advanced

DAYS 5

HOURS 40

At any point in time the instructor can choose not to pass the student if they feel he/she is not ready.

Once someone is certified as an assistant instructor, they must go through the Instructor Course. The Instructor Course is more intensive than becoming an assistant instructor and teaches perspective instructors how to teach. Through the course we learn an Adaptive Teaching Method which means being able to change how we communicate to a specific person to most effectively coach them. The minimum requirements to become an instructor are:

Once you become an IKO Certified Instructor, you can more efficiently teach people how to kiteboard. What this means for our students is that they get more value for the money they invest with lessons.
There’s more to becoming an IKO Affiliated Center than just being a certified instructor.

Equipment

We not only use the highest quality gear in the kiteboarding industry but have all the tools to help our students learn most efficiently.

Jetski Support – Included in our lessons is the use of a jetski. Having a jetski helps us get away from the crowds to our own area where our students can learn in the comfort of their own environment. The jetski saves time when learning how to ride the board. With a jetski we can be right along side you for support and coaching. Rather than having to walk back upwind, we can take the jetski upwind saving both time and energy.

Latest Cabrinha Gear – Cabrinha is one of the leading kite manufacturers in the world due to quality and performance. Being on kites that are designed to be efficient helps students learn the muscle memory of controlling the kite quicker. The safety systems on these kites are also simple and easy to use. We have different models and sizes to match students up with based on their skill, weight and wind speeds.

Safety – We provide all the necessary safety equipment like water shoes and impact vests. We also have control bars of various line lengths for different wind conditions and size of the students.

Not only have we gone through the training to become certified instructors, we have over 10 years experience kiteboarding in St Petersburg. We know the wind patterns and the environment where we teach to provide the best quality lessons to our students. Everything we do is focused towards creating safe and self sufficient kiteboarders. We not only create kiteboarders but lasting friendships with the people we teach.
