10 Cent Bridge
Wind Direction: ENE, E, SE, S
Hazards: Power lines close to the launch, mangroves preventing a place to get out to the north, deep water and a busy channel to the south.
10 Cent Bridge is the bridge before you enter Tierra Verde. The spot where kiteboarders launch is on the north east side before the drawbridge. We recommend being a proficient rider when kiting at this spot due to the hazards surrounding this spot. There is plenty of flat water to the north east of the launch that makes it a perfect spot for freestyle. If you’re proficient with a foilboard, there’s a channel to the south that travels from west to east.
The best wind directions for this spot are an ENE, E and SE wind. If the wind is NE then it comes from over the land and can be very gusty in this spot. If you travel 7 minutes down the road you’ll be at Fort Desoto and East Beach in Fort Desoto is a much better place to ride on a NE wind.
Getting Here:
If you’re traveling from I-275, take the Pinellas Bayway exit towards Eckerd College and St Pete Beach. When you get off the exit pass Eckerd College on the left and continue through the first toll. After passing through the toll and at the second set of lights, take a left on Pinellas Bayway S towards Tierra Verde and Fort Desoto Park. 10 Cent Bridge is the first bridge and the launch is just before crossing the bridge on the left.
