Are you wanting to learn how to kiteboard or are you in the process of learning how to kiteboard? The single most important thing you should know is that kiteboarding doesn’t require strength, you need finesse. Our goal for each lesson is to help you build the finesse and muscle memory needed for you to advance efficiently with us and on your own.
How Long Does It Take To Learn How To Kiteboard?
This is one of the most common questions we get asked and it is difficult to answer. Muscle memory is a weird thing, something like waterstarts may be difficult but suddenly it will click and you’ll have it. Our goal is to help you develop the muscle memory as quickly, efficiently and safely as possible.
On average it can take 6 – 12 hours to learn how to kiteboard. Having wakeboarding experience or sailing experience will help your learning curve.
Learning Environment
We teach in shallow, waist deep water with clean wind and limited kiteboarders around. We use a jetski to get to the good spots where you can focus solely on learning how to kiteboard. Being in the right environment will help you learn quicker and will be a lot more fun!

Hardest Part About Learning To Kiteboard?
Learning to fly the kite will be your biggest challenge. You can watch all the YouTube videos on learning how to kiteboard and it will help to a certain extent but the challenge will be ignoring your instincts. Your initial reactions will tell you to pull when you feel a pull from the kite – this is wrong and will make learning impossible. The value in having a licensed and certified instructor is to create a safe and stress free environment where you can develop the muscle memory needed to find “the sweet spot” on the kite control bar.
Second challenge will be learning how to waterstart. We have a method to making waterstarts with the kiteboard safer and easier. It’s a combination of certain key exercises and having the right gear. We also utilize the support of a jetski to make learning how to waterstart efficient!

Once You Got It
There may be times when certain exercises feel impossible. Our goal is to connect with you as the student to effectively communicate the proper way to explain a certain exercise. If one way isn’t working, we’ll try another way suited to your individual method of learning. Once you get it, you got it.
