Turks and Caicos is an island we love and feel comfortable at. If you’re looking for a kiteboarding trip, Turks and Caicos is the place to be. For learning how to kiteboard, learning new tricks or just exploring, Turks and Caicos delivers.
Heres a video from our latest trip to the island:
Kiteboarding Long Bay – The Shipwreck
Most of the video is shot at Long Bay where the shipwreck is. To get to the shipwreck you need to tack 2.5 miles straight upwind. The wind always blows from the east, sometimes theres a little south in it or north. Regardless, to get to the ship is a hike. Even when you think you’re close, you’re really not that close. Once you get there, it is worth the trek out. It’s more massive than it looks from the beach and you can hear it creaking.
Learning at Long Bay
Long Bay is one of the easiest places to learn how to kiteboard. Whether youre learning to ride or learn new tricks, Long Bay is a forgiving kite spot for all levels of riders. The wind blows side onshore so you do need to walk out some to get started but it is waist deep water for miles. Not only is the water waist deep, there’s fine sand and hardly any shells so you don’t need booties. You can stand up everywhere so learning things is infinitely easier.
Excursions & Tours
If you’re interested in exploring the ins and outs of the island we offer excursions. There are many more places to kiteboard than just Long Bay but you do need to know the area, the tides and the exact wind direction to make it perfect. For more information, send us a message below:
