We have a strong low pressure system that is to the southwest of St Petersburg. This system is pushing some slow moving storms into our area. As the low pressure gets closer to the Tampa area we’ll begin to see some good southerly wind. If you get out kiteboarding in the next few days make sure to keep an eye on the radar.
Forecast
Monday – Southwest winds 14 – 18 mph throughout the day. Storms are forecasted to be more prevalent Tuesday and Wednesday
Tuesday – Winds increase to 20 – 30 mph out of the southwest. There will be stronger gusts just outside the storms. Make sure to keep an eye on the radar.
10 am update – Storms look to still be off in the Gulf of Mexico. South winds look good for the next few hours until the storms come through.
Wednesday – Similar weather pattern to Tuesday with winds 20 – 25 mph out of the southwest. There’s forecasted to be thunderstorms throughout the day so be observant and monitor the radars.
Places To Ride
Keep in mind that the more west in the wind makes Fort Desoto East Beach gusty. A SSW wind works but if the wind shifts to the SW then the west side of the Skyway Bridge or St Pete Beach will have cleaner, more consistent winds. If you see that a storm is about to hit, don’t go ride. There will be lightning Tuesday and Wednesday so be aware of your surroundings.
