Windy season is here for St Petersburg and the Tampa Bay area! The weather is starting to change in a positive way. It is still warm throughout the day but the air is drier. With drier air, the breezes are stronger and more consistent… perfect for kiteboarding!
What is windy season?
Windy season in the St. Petersburg/Tampa Bay area, goes from October through June. Any time you see cooler temperatures at night or drier air, there’s a good chance we’ll have wind. Baynews 9 is a good source for local information to check the 7 day forecast or the marine forecast. For the most accurate reading of the wind we use iKitesurf, but keep in mind the forecast can change and beyond three days is not very accurate. Want to know everything we use to check the wind forecast? Check it out here.
What does it mean for kiteboarding?
With the chances for good, consistent winds going up, this means you’ll be able to have more chances to get out on the water. The wind will last longer, be stronger and there will be more windy days!
