2018 Cabrinha Chaos Review
Cabrinha says the Chaos is for “riders that want the highest performing technical freestyle kite.” The Chaos is a C-shape kite with arch support lines. New for the 2018 Cabrinha Chaos is the high tenacity dacron in the leading edge of the kite. This material is stiffer and maintains the shape better meaning that it provides higher performance for technical tricks.

2018 vs 2017 Cabrinha Chaos
The shape of the Chaos is exactly the same from 2017 to 2018, the difference between the two is the high tenacity dacron in the leading edge of the 2018 Chaos. The only way to get a true feel for the differences is to ride both years kites back to back. What we noticed is that the 2018 has a snappier pop and a little better slack. The rigidity of the leading edge allows the 2018 Chaos to hold its shape better when loading up to pop. When you pop, the slack is excellent and makes handle passes super easy.
Chaos Review
The Chaos is a 5 Strut, technical C-shape arc with C-port arch support lines, and a box wing tip shape. Though Cabrinha markets the Chaos as an advanced, technical kite, you don’t need to be a top pro to ride it. Modern C-shape kites have come a long way in recent years. The newer Chaos has a better wind range than any older C kite. The arch support lines give the Chaos better stability in the air to allow for a better drive upwind. The classic box wing tip shape, which defines C kites, is great for kite control when you’re unhooked. Having this design allows you to feel exactly where the kite is in the sky at all times. If you want to progress with unhooked riding, the Chaos will take you to the next level.
The downside to the Chaos is that there’s more bar pressure than any other kite in the Cabrinha lineup, but in perspective, it’s still less bar pressure than the old C kites. Bar pressure is nice from a technical standpoint because it allows you to feel exactly where the kite is. If you’re dedicated to progressing your unhooked tricks then the Chaos is perfect for you. If you’re someone who will mix unhooked tricks with hooked in tricks then you’ll want to consider the 2018 Cabrinha FX.
