Overall Impressions
The 2020 Cabrinha Spectrum has a balanced feel on the water. The Spectrum grips and holds an edge when you want it to but breaks free and carves smooth. Whether you’re first learning how to jump or doing complicated unhooked maneuvers, the 2020 Cabrinha Spectrum performs!
Right away you’ll notice how easy this board planes and how well it goes upwind. We tested the 144cm size and for someone 160 lbs and on a 12m kite, we found that in 12mph it was easy to go upwind. Not only were we able to go upwind but generate enough speed to jump and do all sorts of tricks.

Doing tricks on the 2020 Cabrinha Spectrum is fun! We were surprised by how well this board performs from a technical standpoint. Super easy to pop and slide to toeside. It’s easy to get the timing right on regular hooked in jumps. There is a decent amount of flex to the Spectrum. We’ve found it to have softer landings than any other board in Cabrinha’s lineup.
You get a true feel for a kiteboard when you perform unhooked tricks. We found that the Spectrum can perform at a technical level. Whether you’re going into a back rotation or front rotation, you can easily control your pop with the Spectrum. It has the right amount of grip and breaks free from the water when you want.

General Summary
At $439 retail price, the 2020 Cabrinha Spectrum is a fantastic entry level to intermediate level board that will continue to perform as you progress. If you’re an intermediate to advanced rider you can still do everything with the Spectrum but you may also consider the Cabrinha XCaliber or Ace board depending on your style of riding. The reason for considering an XCal or Ace would be that the board layout and design is more specific to a certain style of riding. Either of these boards have more of a niche category that will help you progress quicker in that specific style of riding.
If you want a lightweight board that does everything well at a good price, the 2020 Cabrinha Spectrum is your board. We’re super stoked on the feel of the Spectrum and will have it available for demo in the Tampa Bay area.
