The 313 is one of the first and easiest handle pass maneuvers. Once you learn how to shifty to wrap, the next progression is to learn how to 313. This trick involves the handlepass in the air. We will go over the body position throughout the trick and kite position.
How To 313: Body
As soon as you pop off the water, kick your back leg backwards. This motion will help create more momentum when you go for the handlepass.

Just before the apex of your jump, kick your back leg forwards and upwards towards the control bar. Another way to look at it is to bring your back hip towards the bar. Once at the apex of your jump, let go of your front hand and look over your front shoulder. Make sure to commit to looking over your front shoulder to complete the rotation.

The momentum caused by kicking your back leg forwards and up will help you complete the handlepass and rotation.

Kite Position
If riding to the right, the kite should be at 12:30. If riding to the left the kite should be at 11:30. When you get close to the apex of your jump, flick the kite down towards the water. This will help create slack making it easier to complete the handlepass. A hybrid C shaped kite like the Cabrinha FX does create more slack, which makes it easier to learn handlepass maneuvers.
