Below is a video and a step-by-step process to add dynamic images in Final Cut Pro. Dynamic images can make abstract ideas come to life in a video or photo.
Step 1
Once Final Cut Pro is open, create a new folder and project. Upload the video content you wish to add the dynamic image over into the folder and then into the project. Click the “Titles and Generators sidebar” icon that is in the top left of the Final Cut Program.

Step 2
Look to the side bar on the left side of Final Cut. Scroll down and select “Elements”.

Highlight “Shapes” by clicking on it. Grab “Shapes” and drag it over the segment of the video you wish to add the dynamic image over.

Step 3
Change the type of dynamic image you wish to create by selecting the “Shape” in the sidebar in the top right corner.

There are different customizable settings to the shape such as:
- Fill Color or No Fill
- Outline Color
- Outline Width
- Drop Shadow
These customizable options are all available in the sidebar in the top right section of Final Cut. If they are not there, make sure to select “Shapes” in the project. “Shapes” should be highlighted yellow.

Step 4
The next step is to transform the image to the size and position where you want it over the video. Make sure “Shapes” is selected and select the “Transform” icon under the video display in the middle of the screen. Grab and select the outer box of the shape to change its size.

To give the shape a more dynamic feel, select the dropdown function next to the “Transform” icon and select “Distort”. This will provide another box around the shape. Select different sides of the box to change the proportion of the shape to make it look embedded within the image.

Step 5
The final step is to determine the placement and length of time the image appears over the video. To change the position of the image, select the image and drag it in the project editor in the bottom of the screen. To change the duration of the image, grab either one side and drag it to make it longer or shorter.
