Kiteboarding jump transitions are one of my favorite ways to mix up a session. A front roll kiteloop, a jump with a board grab, or a backroll gives you a different way to change direction and add some style to your riding.
You don’t always need a new trick. Sometimes changing the height, adding a grab, or slowing down a rotation makes an old favorite fun again.
Watch: Three of My Favorite Jump Transitions
1. Front Roll Kiteloop Transitions
The front roll kiteloop combines a rotation with a loop of the kite. It’s one of the variations I enjoy coming back to when I want to mix things up. Treat this as an advanced progression: get comfortable with the individual skills before combining them.
2. Jump Transitions with Board Grabs
A board grab adds style to a jump transition without adding a rotation. I like how a small change can give a familiar jump a different feel. Consistent jumps and controlled landings are the foundation before adding the grab.
3. Backroll Transitions
Backrolls are another favorite. Once the rotation feels familiar, there’s room to play with the timing and make it your own. The goal is a controlled change of direction that flows into your next run.
Build from the Basics
If you’re still working on changing direction, start with our kiteboarding transition guide. Build consistent transitions and basic jumps before adding rotations or kiteloops.
