Lassing Park
Wind Direction: NE, E, SE
Hazards: Power lines by street, houses to the south
Tides: Tides do not affect Lassing Park as much as other locations. It is rare, but a low, low tide can leave little to no water in Lassing Bay. You can check the tides out here.
Lassing Park is located just south of Downtown St Petersburg. This public park features a nice grass launch area and shallow, flat water. The two things to pay attention to for Lassing Park is the tide and wind direction. You want to make sure that there isn’t a low tide since it can become too shallow and there can be no water. Although Lassing is compatible with NE, E and SE wind, the best direction is when it blows straight east. When the wind is out of the SE or NE the land breaks up the wind and it will not be as strong as places like Fort Desoto East Beach or Skyway Bridge East. When the wind is straight out of the east and it isn’t a low tide, Lassing is a perfect place to kiteboard.
Kiteboarding Lassing Park, St Petersburg Florida

What makes Lassing special for St Petersburg is the grass launch area and sand bar that breaks the chop from Tampa Bay. It is one of the few launch sites that has grass where you pump up and fold up. The sand bar located on the outside of Lassing creates a super flat riding area. On a NE or E wind, a fun activity is a downwinder from Lassing Park to Skyway Bridge.
