The ENE wind is a perfect direction for kiteboarding at Lassing Park, just south of downtown St Petersburg. The ideal times of day to kiteboard here are either early in the morning until about 10am, or later in the day, after 4pm. During the middle of the day and if the suns out a sea breeze will try to form so the ENE wind becomes gusty or will shut down during the early afternoon. Before kiteboarding here make sure you check the tide charts. On low tide Lassing Park can run out of water. Remember to always respect the local homeowners and park users. If you’re new to kiteboarding Lassing may not be the most user friendly place due to the power lines.
The wind in the video below is between 10-12kts. I’m riding a Cabrinha Contra 17m and a Cabrinha Ace 139cm. The first trick is a back to blind with a tail grab and the second trick is a back mobe. Check out 30 Knots for your kiteboarding apparel, all tshirts are made out of bamboo fibers so they’re incredibly soft and durable.
