It’s early but it is that time of year where tropical systems are brewing out in the Gulf of Mexico. This weekend we’re seeing a 70 – 90% chance of a tropical storm development. What this means for us is wind and rain.
Saturday – We’ll begin feeling the effects with a SE wind Saturday morning. Wind speeds will be around 15 – 20 kts. The big variable to be aware of throughout the day will be storms. Some of the storms may contain lightning and squalls. As the day continues there will be higher chances of rain.
Sunday – Stronger winds on Sunday as the tropical storm will be to our west. Winds will be SSE around 20 – 25 kts with some gusts closer to 30. Storms will be prevalent so be extra cautious!
Monday – The tropical system will be more to our north on Monday but still delivering wind to us. Winds will be more S, SSW and around 20 kts depending on the track the system takes. There will still be scattered storms worth monitoring.
The big variable throughout the weekend will be the storms. We don’t believe it will be a complete wash out but there will definitely be stronger storms that will quickly come through the area. Situational Awareness will be key this weekend. Be mindful of where you are, where the storms are coming from and what is around you.
