Kiteboarding is all about having fun on the water with friends and family while being safe. A lot of non kiteoarders have the misconception that kiteboarding is dangerous and requires a lot of strength. The truth is that with proper instruction kiteboarding is safe and a lot of fun! You don’t need much strength to kiteboard, last week we had a 12 year old and his father riding together. This is what kiteboarding means to us.
It was an awesome experience having a father and son ride together. Both riders were proficient meaning they knew how to cruise upwind and were able to enjoy their time on the water. Kiteboarding is a sport that requires little strength making it possible for kids to learn at a young age. The key is always kite control and understanding the wind window. Having good kite control will allow the rider to lean back and enjoy the ride!
Kids are our future for kiteboarding and it is important to teach them how to be responsible. Being responsible means learning the proper technique so that the risk of injury is reduced. Most accidents happen on the beach due to a lack of understanding how to launch and land a kite. With Kiteboarding St Petersburg, we design fun and safe exercises so that kids learn and understand how to launch and land a kite. Right of way rules are equally as important. We go over and teach kids the right of way rules so they are good role models.
What kiteboarding means to us is being able to get people of all ages into the sport in a safe, proficient and fun way. We love seeing people stoked on kiteboarding! When people can enjoy time on the water with their friends and family its that much better.
